As you can see from the above new screenshot, Fallout 3 takes place in a very dangerous post-apocalyptic setting where danger lurks at every turn. You need weapons to explore the blasted landscape so that you can deal with the many, many mutated threats in the ruins of Washington DC. Fallout 3 is still scheduled for release this fall for the PC and other platforms.

New Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 screenshots emerge
With World in Conflict: Soviet Assault most likely not coming out this year it looks like the big RTS title of fall 2008 will be Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3. This week developer/publisher Electronic Arts released new screenshots from the game which once again is set in a campy alternative timeline.
EA is currently running a multiplayer beta test for Red Alert 3 for those folks who bought the expansion pack Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath. Unfortunately those beta testers are under an NDA at the moment so they can't legally talk about what they are experiencing while they play the beta. We should get some more hands-on time with the game before its planned fall 2008 release date.

Lego Batman introduces Batgirl
One of the bad things about the super-serious movie The Dark Knight is the fact that Robin and other members of the Batman family are not around. That's not the case for Lego Batman, the upcoming action game from developer Traveller's Tales and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive. This week the publisher released new screenshots from the game showing off their version of Batgirl.
This is the most well known version of Batgirl, a.k.a. Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon. This version hasn't been shot by the Joker yet (detailed in the incredible Batman graphic novel The Killing Joke) and then continue to fight crime as the wheelchair bound computer guru Oracle. You can check out the much less serious Batgirl when Lego Batman comes out in September.

Godfather II web site launches; first screenshots released
Electronic Arts makes another go of making a game based on the Godfather movie franchise with The Godfather II. The game's official web site was recently launched along with the first public screenshots of the game's visuals. Most of the movie's actors (Al Pacino excluded) will have their likenesses in the new game which is being developed by EA's Redwood Shores division.
While The Godfather II will have open world gameplay like the first game in the series, this sequel will expand on first game's location as the player controls organized crime in the 1960s in not just New York City but also Miami and even Cuba. New Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir screenshots
Atari may have generated a profit for the first time last quarter but if they want to continue to stay in the money they need to release games that people will actually buy. One of those titles that has a good shot of doing just that is Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir, the upcoming second retail expansion pack to the 2006 released D&D RPG.
Recently Atari sent out some new screenshots from the expansion which once again will be developed by Obsidian Entertainment. The expansion is set to feature items like a non-linear enviroment to explore, party creation, an economic system that you can influence while playing and more. The expansion is due for release this fall.

New Civilization IV: Colonization screenshots released
The console release of Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution seemed to sell well last month according to NPD Group info but PC gamers are still excited to get their hands on Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization. The Firaxis Games developed title, which is basically a stand alone total conversion of Civ IV, is due out this fall.
The game's publisher 2K Games sent out some new screenshots of the title which is a (sort-of) remake of the 1990's PC game Sid Meier's Colonization with players heading out to the New World to meet the natives, establish colonies and trade and more. Look for multiplayer and mod tools to be part of the mix as well. 2K Games has yet to announce a specific release date beyond fall 2008.

Batman: Arkham Asylum screens leaked
A number of pleasingly dark and gritty screenshots from developer Rocksteady Studios' Batman: Arkham Asylum were leaked, found on the Rocksteady's official website via a gallery that has since been removed.
The screenshots were supposed to be a part of the recent Game Informer exclusive story on the game, but have since made their way onto a number of websites... including, of course, here at Big Download, home to a number of Bat-fans. We've assembled the screens in a gallery for your perusal. Enjoy them, bask in their dark and gothic aesthetics -- and pray that the gameplay can match up to their visual appeal.
